It was a gathering of national leaders as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led an entourage of high-ranking government officials to witness the coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja. The event showcased Nigeria’s cultural diversity as royal delegations from the North, South-East, and South-South graced the ceremony, including representatives from the Sultanate Council and Obas from Yorubaland.
In his congratulatory speech delivered by the Minister of Interior, President Tinubu praised Oba Ladoja as “a symbol of leadership, royalty and diplomacy who has served Nigeria both in politics and now in tradition.” He pledged continued support for cultural institutions and emphasized that traditional rulers remain key partners in building national unity.
Other dignitaries present included former presidents, senators, business moguls, and monarchs such as the Ooni of Ife, Alaafin of Oyo, and Awujale of Ijebu. Security agencies were strategically deployed across the venue to maintain order, while traffic was carefully managed to ease movement in and out of Ibadan metropolis.
